Cigarlitter

cig·ar·lit·ter/ˌsigərlitər/

noun: a combination of the words cigarette and litter that I just made up.

Apparently, cigarette butts are the most littered object in the world. Quite depressing really; such a small object, but some 4.5 trillion are discarded annually.

I am not a smoker, but I know many people who do. I'm certain a lot of their cigarette butts just get thrown onto the ground... Would it be wrong for me to stop them? I don't think it would be out of line...

Anyway, I used my dad's cigarette butts from the picture above to make the guy shown below.

I've picked up other people's litter before. I have even picked up a few cigarette butts (washed my hands after, of course). If only people didn't throw them on the ground in the first place.

I have a friend whose dog died from cancer because of eating cigarette butts that were thrown onto the lawn by one of the relatives. One could argue the dog could have been better trained or better watched over, but I think it is a lot easier to control the actions of our own than the actions of others.

So, let's save a dog and stop cigarlittering! And littering, in general!
